LASIK Recovery Kit: Products Surgeons Actually Recommend
Updated 7/2/2025
Always follow your surgeon’s product and dosing instructions; this is a general starting point.
Essentials (commonly recommended)
- Prescribed antibiotic/anti‑inflammatory drops: start as directed
- Preservative‑free artificial tears: small vials; use frequently in the first weeks
- Night shields or protective glasses: avoid rubbing while sleeping
- Sunglasses: reduce light sensitivity outdoors
- Clean, lint‑free tissues or eyelid wipes: for gentle lid hygiene (no rubbing)
Nice‑to‑have comfort aids
- Humidifier near your desk/bed during the first weeks
- Cold compress pack for short intervals if advised
- Gel tears for nighttime dryness (ask before use)
- Extra pillowcases/towels to keep the eye area clean
Set up your space
- Create a rest area with low light for the first afternoon
- Pre‑open artificial tear vials and keep them within reach
- Queue audiobooks/podcasts to avoid screen time early on
Travel and work kits
- Carry‑on pouch: artificial tears, small sunglasses, drop schedule
- Airplane tip: use tears before boarding and every 30–60 minutes in flight
- Desk setup: monitor glare filter, larger font, scheduled breaks
Do and don’t
Do
- Use all medications as prescribed; set reminders
- Keep follow‑ups and report any unusual pain or sudden vision changes
Avoid
- Rubbing your eyes
- Pools, hot tubs, and dusty environments until cleared
- Eye makeup until your surgeon says it’s okay
The best kit is the one you’ll actually use. Assemble it before surgery day so recovery is calmer and more comfortable.
